What we do

Wilmington Fence Co. handles the part of a fence project most people find hardest: getting someone to come out, measure properly, explain the options and put a real price in writing. You call or send the form, an estimator visits, and the build is carried out by an insured local fence crew we work with. The phone is answered at all hours, so a call at night or on a Sunday is not lost.

How we think about fences here

A fence on the coast is a different project from a fence inland. The ground is sand, often with a high water table. The wind arrives every hurricane season, and a solid board fence is a sail. Salt air rusts steel near the water. HOAs in the newer neighborhoods have firm opinions on color and height, and the beach towns have their own rules. Our estimates account for all of that: post depth and footing size for the soil, designs that suit the exposure, hardware that suits the salt, and the paperwork checked before anything is ordered.

What we will not do

• Quote a price without measuring the line.
• Promise a fence is hurricane-proof. Nothing is.
• Build on an old fence line without checking it against the plat or survey.
• Ask for full payment before a standard residential job starts.

Licensing and insurance, plainly

North Carolina does not have a separate licence for residential fence installers. The state's general contractor licence applies above a project-value threshold set by the NC Licensing Board for General Contractors, and most home fence projects fall below it. Insurance is the question to ask: the crews who build fences through us carry liability coverage, and you can ask for the certificate before work starts.
